Etosha National Park — Namibia

Ostrich and lionEtosha National Park in northwestern Namibia is home to the Himba ethnic group.

The Etosha Pan dominates the park. The salt pan desert is roughly 80 miles long and as wide as 30 miles in places. The salt pan is usually dry, but fills with water briefly in the summer, when it attracts pelicans and flamingos in particular. Perennial springs attract a variety of animals and birds throughout the year, including the endangered Black Rhinoceros and the endemic Black-faced Impala.

Visit the numerous springs and pans in the area or participate in a variety of other activities including game walks and game drives in search of lion, leopard, elephant and black rhino, as well as a variety of plains game.
