Golf and Safari in South Africa

South Africa offers a range of superb golfing opportunities. There are championship city courses, world-class golfing estates, seaside courses and even courses that sport live crocodiles in the water features. It has a good sunny climate, spectacular natural beauty, excellent game viewing and a wide range of accommodation options.

The difficult part is deciding how much golf you want to play and how much time you want to would like sightseeing and game viewing. For this reason, we plan our golf and game safaris on an individual basis, allowing guests as much flexibility as possible. The options include self-drive to fully escorted tours with professional guides.

Golf and Safari - Self Drive Tour

To assist those unfamiliar with South Africa, we have designed a typical golf tour, which incorporates the most popular courses and introduces the golfer to some of the best scenery and game viewing in the country.

Day 1

Guests are met at Cape Town International Airport and assisted with the collection of their rental car. This package includes a group D vehicle (Toyota Camry 2.0 or similar, automatic, air-con and power-steering). Self-drive to the Cape Grace Hotel. Accommodation is on a bed and breakfast basis for 4 nights. Cape Grace Hotel BB

Day 2

For the next 3 days guests may join one of the 4 optional private tours of the Cape Region (listed below) or play a round of golf at one of the following highly recommended courses:

Guests can play golf or join one of tours of the Cape region.

Private Tours in Cape Town

These are private tours with a private driver/guide. Guests may join some of the less expensive scheduled tours with other guests if they prefer.

1. Private Full Day Peninsula Tour

Highlights include:

	Magnificent seascape views along the Atlantic Coast
	Boat ride to Seal Island in Hout Bay (weather permitting)
	Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve
	Cape Point
	Boulder's Beach to see the only penguins found on the African Continent
	Lunch at one of the seaside restaurants along the coast

2. Private Full Day Winelands Tour

Highlights include:

	Exploring the wine route towns of Stellenbosch, Paarl and Franshoek.
	Estates visited according to wine preferences. Includes tastings at each estate
	Lunch at one of the wine estates
	Experience the historical sites and shops of the towns

3. Private Half Day City Tour

Highlights include:

	Cable Car ride to the top of Table Mountain
	Tour of the Malay Quarter
	Government Avenue
	Castle

4. Private Full Day Cultural Tour

Highlights include:

	Robben Island where Nelson Mandela was imprisoned - World Heritage Site
	District 6, where people were forcibly removed in the 60's
	Township of Gugulethu
	Community projects and local shops

Day 5

Return the rental vehicle at Cape Town airport. Depart on the scheduled flight from Cape Town to George. On arrival collect your Group D rental vehicle from George airport and self-drive to the Fancourt Hotel for 2 nights on a bed & breakfast basis. In the afternoon play a round of golf at one of Fancourt's famous courses.

Day 7

Self-drive to the Plettenberg region and check into Tsala Treetops for 1 night on a bed & breakfast bais. Optional tours can be arranged as listed below. Or play golf at one of the following recommended golf courses

Day 8

Self-drive back to George airport and return the rental vehicle. Depart on the scheduled flight from George to Hoedspruit, via Johannesburg. Transfer from Hoedspruit airport to Thornybush Private Game Reserve in time for your first afternoon game drive in Big 5 territory. Accommodation is for 3 nights on a fully inclusive basis, including all meals and game activities.

Spend the day enjoying the game activities.

Spend the day enjoying the game activities or play a round of golf at the nearby Hans Merensky Golf Course in Phalaborwa. Golf today is optional at an additional cost.

Transfer to Hoedspruit Airport for flight to Sun City. Shuttle bus transfer to the hotel. Overnight at The Palace for 2 nights on a bed & breakfast basis.

Shuttle bus transfer to Sun City Airport. Depart on flight to Johannesburg International Airport to connect with the international flight.
