National parks with game animals as well as rare species
of
wildlife.
National Parks in Southern Africa
Aberdares National Park
The Aberdares is a beautiful mountain range
to the north of the capital city of Nairobi. Within
the heart of these mountains lies the Aberdares
National Park, a magical place of dense forest
and misty moorlands, where icy rivers plunge in cascades
and waterfalls. The Rainforest ishome to the
eland and elusive bongo, as well as forest hog, elephant
and buffalo.
Amboseli National Park
In southeast Kenya against the backdrop of the might Mt.
Kilimanjaro, lies Amboseli National Park. More
elephant can be seen here than almost anywhere
in Africa and some 55 other secies roam the land,
including lion, leopard, cheetah, impala and several
rare black rhions.
Lake Victoria National Park
Lake Victoria is the ideal place for the fishing
enthusiast or for the avid bird watcher looking for
somewhere peaceful.
Samburu National Park
Samburu National Park lies astride the Uaso
Nyiro River below Mount Kenya. Besides
the plentiful general game animals, some of the
more rare species found here are the long-neck
gerunuk, the Grevy's zebra, the unusual reticulated
gifaffe and the Beisa oryx.
Tsavo National Park
Tsavo National Park is one of the world's largest
wildlife sanctuaries. In the northwest, the Mzima
Springs forms a haven for hippo and crocodile
and a myriad of different game and birdlife.
National Parks South Africa
Kruger National Park, in
South Africa, is besk known for the 'Big Five' - Lion,
Elephant, Leopard, Buffalo and Rhino. Game
viewing at Kruger National Park has been described
as a 'spine tingling experience'.
Chobe National Park is
the second largest national park in Botswana and cover
10,566 square kilometres, has one of the greatest
concentrations of game found on the African continent.
It is home to one of the world's largest elephant
populations in Africa. The park is divided into
four distinctly different eco systems: Serondela with
its lush plains and dense forests in the Chobe River
area in the extreme northeast; the Savuti Marsh in
the West; the Linyanti Samps in the northwest and
the hot dry hinterland in between.
Etosha National Park is
dominated by the Etosha Pan. The salt pan desert is
roughly 130 kilometers long and as wide as 50 kilometers
in place. The salt pan in usually dry, but fills
with water briefly in the summer months, when it attracts
pelican and flamingos in particular.
Hwange National Park is
a huge conservation area in southwestern Zimbabwe. It
is situated on the edge of the Kalahari desert, a
region with little water and very sparse, semi-arid
vegetation. It is excellent for game viewing,
even though only about a quarter of this huge wildlife
haven is accessible to tourtists.
Matusadona National Park (Zimbabwe)
is one of the last remaining sanctuaries of the endangered
Black Rhino. It is commonly recognized as having
one of the highest concentrations of wild lions in
Africa.
Mana Pools National Park, on
the southern bank of the Zambezi River, is one
of southern Africa's top walking safari destinations. Mana
Pools is best accessed via the lower Zambezi safari
hub in Kariba.
